Born in Hong Kong, Colleen began her piano lessons at the age of
4. Since 1987, Eleanor Wong has been her mentor at the Hong
Kong Academy for Performing Arts where Colleen has won many
awards and scholarships. She obtained her Bachelor of Music
with First Class Honours in 2001 and completed her Professional
Diploma Course with Distinction in 2003. Colleen is at present
studying with Professor Arie Vardi at The Hochschule für Musik
und Theater Hannover, Germany on a scholarship from the Hong
Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund.

Her competition experience and success are impressive. Colleen
is the Pro Musicis International Award
winner for 2005. In May 2005 she won the Third Place, as
well as the Critic Prize and Audience Prize at the 15th
International Competition for Piano and Orchestra in Cantú,
Italy. Subsequent prizes include: First Prize at the 3rd Seiler
International Piano Competition in Kitzingen, Germay in 2003,
Winner of the 2003 Dorothy Mackenzie Artist Recognition Award,
First Prize at the 7th Hamamatsu International Piano
Academy Competition in 2002, Special Prize (Theaodor-Rogler
Foundation) at the 51st ARD-Musikwettbewerb in the
same year, and the Second Prize at the Gina Bachauer Young
Artists International Piano Competition in 1999. She was also
the First Prize winner of the 1994 Newport International
Competition for Young Pianists in UK and the 1993 Junior Gina
Bachauer International Piano Competition in U.S.A.
A frequent performer in Hong Kong and abroad, Colleen has
participated in such festivals as the Carinthia Festival in
Austria, the Prades “Festival Pablo Casals” in France,
Miedzynarodowy Festiwal Chopinowski, Duszniki Zdroj, Poland; the
Assisi International Piano Festival, Italy; and Meissen
Pianoforte Festival, Germany. Her Carnegie Hall debut in Weill
Recital Hall in October 2003 was part of the Dorothy MacKenzie
Award. She has also performed in Bangkok, Jakarta, Poland and
London. As a soloist, Colleen has collaborated with the BBC
National Orchestra of Wales, Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra,
Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, Academy
Symphony Orchestra, The Hong Kong Sinfonietta and the Cebu Youth
Symphony Orchestra. She has also made Studio Recordings for
“Young Music Makers”, a Radio Television Hong Kong Programme.
Performance engagements for the upcoming season will be
highlighted by recital at the 60th International
Chopin Festival at Duszniki, in August, Concerto Performance
with Israel Philharmonic Orchestra as well as
a Festival devoted to Beethoven sonatas in Tel Aviv in
December. Arranged by the Pro Musicis Foundation, Colleen will
perform in New York, Massachusetts and France in early 2006.
She will give her debut recitals in Estonia, Lithuania, Prague,
The Hague and Amsterdam (Concertgebouw) in March 2006 under the
“New Master on Tours Series” of The International Holland Music
Sessions.Beim 52. Internationalen Musikwettbewerb der
ARD 2002 hat sie ein Jahresstipendium der
Theodor-Rogler-Stiftung erhalten. |
